Teamwork (External + Internal)
Teamwork means working with one another to obtain individual and group goals. It involves clear and open communication with team members. It also entails people supporting and helping each other when the time comes; lending a helping hand to others when needed. It requires that people value their own progress as well as the progress of others on their team. At its best, teamwork should result in greater and maximum results than if the individual team members performed their tasks alone to obtain their personal goals.
Growth
We seek to improve the organization as a whole by being supportive of growth on a company level. We aim to continuously better ourselves professionally and personally, as both directly affect each other.
Candor
Candor means being open and honest in communication. However, for our purposes I’d like to add - “in a kind and meaningful way.” This can be established by learning people’s communication styles and trying to adapt to them as much as possible in order for the communication to be effective. It also involves creating a positive work environment in which people are comfortable and close to their team on a work level. All the right components need to be in place in order for this type of communication to take place. Lastly, it does involve choosing the right people for the team - people who are willing to be open and connect with their team in meaningful ways.
Likeability
Likeability starts with treating people with respect and the good ol’ tenet of “treat others like how you want to be treated.” A big thing at Alpha is that we’re very deadline oriented and we can lose sight of being likeable when we’re stressed or under pressure. It’s especially important in these moments that we still treat others nicely as we’re all in the same boat! In addition, having a high level of empathy is important, both with newcomers and current coworkers.
Efficiency / Simplicity
When it comes to processes within the organization and externally, making things more simple and streamlining things for everyone will help make communication easier and thus more clear. It will also help people save time and strike a better work-life balance as well as free up time for them to perform high level tasks that require a clear mind that is not bogged down with unnecessary details and fixes.. It should also help eliminate errors and produce a better work product.
Hard Work / Dedication
Having dedication and working hard is wanting to get the job done and going above and beyond as needed. People need to be open to adapting and going out of their comfort zones when a task requires it. Although, if systems are setup properly, tasks and time balance should come into play and people should be able to finish their tasks anyway.
